Your Bursa

A bursa is a sac filled with fluid that acts to pad the rubbing of tendons, muscles, ligaments or bones on each other. It decreases damage of structures that are found around a joint. If your bursa is swollen or injured, as in bursitis, these structures rub on each other and cause wear and tear on joint structures and pain when you move your joint.
