Plantar fasciitis is the swelling of the fascia on the bottom of your foot. This fascia is a thick band of tissue that helps keep the arch in your foot and helps with certain movements in your foot. If this is swollen, there will be pain when you stand and put weight through your foot, as well as when you try to move it. Anyone can get plantar fasciitis, however it is more common in people who run a lot or people who have jobs where they stand on hard surfaces most of the day. |

When you have plantar fasciitis, the pain is usually worse in the morning when you first get out of bed. It is also usually worse during a long jog or when you jump. Resting, massaging, or icing your foot usually makes it feel better.
There are many reasons why you may develop plantar fasciitis, such as tight
muscles, weak muscles, poor posture, bad shoes, or different walking styles.
A physical therapist will assess your problem and try to determine the cause.
They can then treat the cause and teach you how to avoid ever developing plantar
fasciitis again.
