T-spine Injury (T1-T12)

Muscles: -full muscle control of upper limbs, no muscle control of lower limbs, varying amounts of muscle control in the stomach and back

Sensation: -no sensation below the level of the lesion

Respiration: -full diaphragm control, some muscles in chest and stomach to assist in breathing, breathing may be a little more difficult than before the injury

-may have weak cough, slight risk for lung infections

Bladder: -incontinent

Spasticity: -spasms below level of lesion

L-spine Injury (L1-L5)

Muscles: -full muscle control of upper limbs, chest, stomach, and back

-weakness in lower limbs, no muscle control in some muscles in lower limbs

Sensation: -no sensation below the level of the lesion

Respiration: -unimpaired

Bladder: -incontinent

Spasticity: -spasms below level of lesion
