The following picture is a tiny piece of the spinal cord, in a cross-section.

Different parts of your spinal cord carry different kinds of information. Parts of the spinal cord can be grouped according to what information they carry. These groupings are referred to as "tracts".
The next picture examples many different tracts traveling up and down the spinal
cord. Each different tract is show in a different colour.
