Heart Attack - continued

If your CAD is quite bad, and you have lots of fat on the inside of the heart blood vessels, than the heart muscle does not receive the blood (and therefore the oxygen) that it needs. If any of the heart muscle does not receive blood for longer than a couple of minutes, the muscle will die. This causes a heart attack.

If only a small part of your heart muscle died, you have had a minor heart attack. If a large amount of the heart muscle died, you have had a major heart attack. With even a tiny bit of your heart muscle dead, your heart cannot pump as well as it used to. If too much of your heart muscle died, your heart cannot pump at all and you will die.
