Whiplash Injuries, Physical Therapy, and You!

What is Whiplash?

Whiplash is an injury to the neck region as a result of a sudden and involuntary whip-like movement of the head and neck in one direction followed by a whip-like recoil of the head and neck in the opposite direction. These sudden whip-like movements compress and stretch many structures around the neck regions such as muscles, ligaments and tendons. Only in severe cases are the bones, nerves or blood vessels affected.
