Treating Golfer’s Elbow

When you first notice pain and tenderness in your elbow:

  • Apply ice to the painful area for no more than 10 minutes
  • Rest (stop playing golf or baseball until the pain goes away)
  • Gently stretch the muscles of your elbow and wrist to prevent stiffness
  • Gently strengthen the muscles to prevent re-occurrence (squeeze a soft sponge ball for short periods of time)
  • Call your physical therapist.  They have some techniques that can promote quicker and stronger healing of your muscles such as frictions and modalities.  They can also help teach you a stretching and strengthening program to prevent re-occurrence
